Aging in place

A house you can stay in, that still looks like yours.

If you want to stay here, the bathroom is usually the first room that gets in the way. We take the step out of the shower, light the hall at night, and put the safety in while the walls are open.

Reunion grand bathroom rebuilt as a roll-in shower

Reunion roll-in

A garden tub and a step became one wet room you can enter, including by wheelchair.

Orlando curbless wet room with a linear drain

Orlando wet room

One floor, a linear drain, and a vanity that stays dry behind the glass.

Start with the bathroom.

The step into the shower is what people trip on. We rebuild the shower so you walk in, with a handheld, a seat, and a drain in the floor. The tile can still be the stone you would have chosen for this bathroom.

It is easier to do that while the floor is already coming up than to open a finished bathroom later.

It should still look like your bathroom.

The hardware can match the rest of the room. A bench can be built in. We can reinforce the walls now, so a bar can go in later without tearing the tile out. Lever handles and a comfortable toilet height are part of the same bathroom. It should feel like yours, and still work if walking gets harder.

The rest of the house matters too.

A level step out to the lanai, a doorway a walker can pass, and a light in the hall at night matter as much as the shower. A first-floor guest room can become the bedroom later. While the walls are open we can add a lock that is easier to use, a sensor under the shower, and lights along the path at night.

Smart-home safety during the renovation

Houses around here.

A lot of them were built with a step into the shower and another step out to the lanai. In Reunion, Windermere, Winter Park, and Orlando, the new bathroom still has to belong to the house. We walk it with you before anyone draws.

We’ll come look at the house.

The first visit is free. We look at the shower, the hall at night, and what you want the house to do for the next ten or twenty years.

FAQ

A few questions

What does a safer bathroom look like?
Stone, glass, and a floor you can walk onto. A bench can be built in, and a bar can match the other hardware. It should be a bathroom you would want even if nobody needed the step removed.
Where can I see a finished one?
Lake Butler in Windermere is a bath without a curb, open to the lake, done with the rest of the house. In Reunion, a garden tub and a step-in shower became a roll-in. In Orlando, the wet room is one floor, and the vanity stays dry.
Can the lights, the lock, and a leak sensor be part of the bathroom?
Yes. While the bathroom is open we can add a light for the hallway at night, a lock you can use without hunting for a key, and a sensor under the shower floor. That happens before the tile goes back.
Do I have to renovate the whole house?
Sometimes it is only the bathroom. If the front step, the hallway, or the shower floor also needs work, we plan those together so you live through one project.
