Reunion second-floor addition
The homeowner needed a bedroom and a bath inside the height the house already had. Before, the house had a tall volume, a loft walk, and dated arches. We framed a bedroom, a bath, and a shower through that space and finished the living floor in herringbone wood. The arches came out. The stair follows the house that was already there.
Part of our additions & expansions work in Reunion.
- Scope
- Second floor inside an existing Reunion house.
- Objective
- Use the height the house already had, and make the new rooms look original.
- Before
- A tall empty volume, a loft walk, and dated arches. The height was there. The rooms still had to be drawn and built.
- The result
- A bedroom, a bath, and a shower framed through that volume. The arches came out. The living floor is herringbone wood. The stair follows the house that was already there.
- Accessibility
- The bath on this floor is part of the addition.
- Materials
- Herringbone wood, a new stair, and a roof line that follows the existing house.
- Result
- The empty height is a bedroom, a bath, and a living floor. The before photos are the loft and the arches. The during photos are the framing. The after is the herringbone floor and the finished rooms.
